What's the difference between Shared & Business Hosting?

Shared Hosting is a regular low-cost web hosting solution suitable for the vast majority of personal and small business web sites, and is provided under our Solo and Startup plans. For those customers with demanding or high traffic sites, or for those looking to host a web site with faster speeds, Business Hosting is recommended - these are all the plans with "Performance" in the title. These plans include more resources (up to 5 CPU Cores & 8GB RAM) and also include caching technology to make sites incredibly fast, with LiteSpeed server-side page cache, along with Redis and Memcached backend caches.

We'd recommend our Business hosting plans for e-commerce stores, high traffic sites, or for those customers who want to leverage our server side caching technology so that their site loads as fast as possible.

Is your support 24x7?

Yes. We provide fast support 24x7x365.

Does your hosting come with a control panel?

Yes, your hosting comes packed with the world's number one control panel, cPanel. You can read more about cPanel here.

Is your hosting US based?

Yes! Our primary hosting facility is based in Tampa, FL. We also have a secondary facility just north of London in the UK. Either facility delivers fantastic speeds globally, however for best performance we'd recommend that during checkout you choose the facility closest to the majority of your visitors. You can also enable a free CloudFlare CDN from your control panel which will serve up static content such as images from over 100 global locations serving every continent, speeding up service to your visitors wherever they are.

Can I upgrade my account if I need to?

Yes you can upgrade at any time. If you are upgrading from Shared Hosting to Business Hosting we will need to migrate your account to a different server and will arrange a convenient time to do this for you with minimal downtime.

How long does it take to set up a new account?

Accounts will be set up immediately after payment. You should receive a welcome email with instructions on getting started within a few minutes after making your payment.

Do I need to transfer my domain to you?

We offer extremely competitive pricing on domain names that is often much cheaper than at other registrars. If you prefer, you can still host with Kualo and keep your domains at any registrar you choose.

Can I have additional domain names pointed at my account?

Yes. All our plans come with an unlimited number of parked or alias domains.

Can I subdivide my space and resell it?

Our multi-domain plans use one control panel login, and so while they are perfect for hosting a number of your own sites, they are not suited for reselling and we don't permit them to be used in this way. If you are looking to resell hosting or provide hosting to others, our reseller packages are more suitable, and provide a much more robust solution for providing space to 3rd parties.

Do you offer a money-back guarantee?

Yes, we provide a no quibble 60-day money back guarantee on any hosting fees. If you registered or transferred a domain name, these fees are non-refundable but you would be able to use your domain with any other provider. If you received a free domain with your plan, we will refund all your fees less our standard fee to register the domain that you received for free.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express and PayPal. We do not support automated recurring billing via PayPal so if you are paying month-to-month we would strongly recommend using a credit or debit card.

What billing cycles do you offer?

You can pay monthly or for 1, 2 or 3 years up front. If you decide to pre-pay, we give you some great discounts on our ongoing pricing. A one year prepayment gives you 2 free months, a 2 year prepayment gives you 6 free months and a 3 year prepayment gives you a whole year free!

Do you offer a shopping cart?

Yes. Our SiteBuilder comes complete with a shopping cart suitable for most small businesses with a small range of products. If you're looking to set up an advanced e-commerce store we would recommend looking at our Magento or Prestashop packages.

Can I install software into my account?

Yes you may set up any software that runs on PHP/MySQL or Perl. We additionally have an application catalogue that will allow you to install over 300 commonly used applications in a few seconds.

Can you offer 'unlimited space'?

It's true that some hosts claim to offer 'unlimited' space. The reality is that unlimited space is actually nothing more than a marketing gimmick - the host will have a large number of other restrictions in place which will prevent you from actually using an very large amount of disk space. We prefer to be up-front about disk allocations, with no sneaky surprises. Our focus is on quality, and we invest heavily in ensuring that our hosting platform is the best possible. We use highly available SSD block storage - it's significantly faster than traditional SATA based storage, or even standalone SSD drives. We store your data three times for full redundancy, in addition to taking backups.

The truth is, you probably don't need 'unlimited' disk space. Over 95% of sites we host on our shared platform use less than 10GB, so our plans are usually more than adequate for most needs. If your priority is for unlimited space, hosts that offer this usually do so using cheap disks, and often have overcrowded servers. We always want our focus to be on quality, and ensuring that our customers always enjoy the best possible speed and reliability for their websites.

Will my account be backed up?

We take an automatic backup on a daily basis for all accounts. Customers on our Startup and Performance plans can restore files directly from these backups via your control panel, as well as initiate on-demand snapshots of their account.

The automated backups we take are strictly speaking for the purposes of full server restoration, and as per our terms, we do not guarantee the availability of these backups. We would therefore recommend that customers purchase our professional backup solution, CodeGuard, which will take a daily backup and enable you to automatically restore your site or individual files as needed. CodeGuard can be added during the order process.

What servers do you run?

Our servers have high end Intel Xeon processors (8+ cores) with at least 32GB RAM. The drives are configured in a RAID array, which provides for protection in the event of drive failure as the data is distributed across multiple disks. In most drive failure instances, we are able to replace the faulty disk without even taking the server offline.

How secure are your servers?

Extremely. You can see an overview of the security measures we have in place that keep our web hosting incredibly secure.

Do you offer Shell Access?

Shell access or SSH is available free of charge on all of our hosting plans. This is a secured shell environment that is locked down to your specific hosting account. To enable it, please contact support after setting up your account.

Can I get root access?

No, root access is not available on any of our shared hosting plans. If you require root access with your hosting, we would recommend you purchase a cloud or dedicated server.

Do you offer Windows based hosting?

Not at this time. You can however use Linux based hosting regardless of the operating system you use on your own computer, whether it be Windows, Mac or Linux.

Do you offer discounts for charities?
